Background
Energy statistics has been collected from volunteered Nokia Battery Monitor v3.0 users for further development of Nokia's products and services. Statistics of the top applications among NBM users are presented to the user community.
Purpose
The purpose of the statistics is to increase interest to energy awareness within the application developer community and mobile users. The statistics are aimed for providing an answer to the following questions:
Which application are used most?
Which applications are important from energy and power consumption point of view?

Data collection
Data has only been collected from NBM v3.0 users who have authorized sharing to Nokia with NBM (see Nokia's Privacy Policy). The statistics are transmitted once a day to Nokia in a small file (few KBs). The statistics represent application usage during one week within all users. The most used applications and energy consumption are provided as an average between all users. Power consumption has been provided as a median
Applications with the same name may appear in the statistics, because an application may have multiple application identifiers (Symbian UIDs).
The following charts present statistics of N8 users who used English as the language in the mobile phone. Data was gathered during one week () and cover different users. Energy consumption has been scaled to the capacity of N8 battery (1200mAh). Usage time is presented in hours, and power in milliwatts (mW). As a quick comparison, power consumption of a typical light bulb is 40 watts (W).
Accuracy
The power and energy consumption measurements are affected by other applications, which are executed in the background of the mobile phone. However, averaging from the large dataset (~15000 users) should reduce error in measurements. Most accurate measurements can be performed with Nokia Energy Profiler, when other applications are closed from the mobile phone during measurements.
